Passing the Leadership to Venerable Master Zhi Rong, the New President of the Buddhist Association of New York
Respected elders, venerable masters, and distinguished guests, good afternoon:
I am Shi Xiu Jue, the founder of Pu Chao Temple and the current President of the New York Buddhist Association. After 38 years of arduous efforts in America, I established today’s Pu Chao Temple. Now that I am advanced in age, Pu Chao Temple requires new leadership. Venerable Master Zhi Rong is my successor and the abbot of Puzhao Temple. Under her leadership in recent years, the temple has undergone renovations and reorganization, promoting the Shurangama Sutra, delivering lectures on the Dharma, strengthening external exchanges, and actively participating in charitable and public welfare activities.
Venerable Master Zhi Rong is pure in her practice, has studied under esteemed teachers, possesses profound Buddhist knowledge, and has a strong sense of responsibility towards Buddhism. She adheres strictly to the precepts, constantly demands high standards of herself, continues the Buddha’s wisdom life, ensures the unceasing transmission of the Dharma, and courageously undertakes the mission of spreading the teachings and benefiting all beings despite various difficulties.
With the unanimous recommendation and approval of the general assembly and the board of directors, today I officially pass the position of President of the New York Buddhist Association to her.
This transition is a great event in the Buddhist community and another significant milestone for the New York Buddhist Association. I wish that under the leadership of the new President, Venerable Master Zhi Rong, and with the support of the board of directors, the New York Buddhist Association and Pu Chao Temple will take this honor as an opportunity to flourish, ensuring the continuous turning of the Dharma wheel, thriving in the Dharma, and playing a greater role in social harmony and the happiness of the public.
